Muni Basman B.A.
Called to the bar in 1960
Muni received his Bachelor of Arts degree from United College in Winnipeg, and his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School.
He is the founding partner of Basman Smith and enjoys high regard in the profession for his skill in developing creative solutions to complex legal problems. Muni has a deep understanding of all areas of the law, having practiced as a generalist throughout his career, including criminal, civil litigation, family law, real estate, corporate commercial and related matters.
This extensive experience gives Muni an informed perspective and broad understanding of the law, which he applies as counsel and resource person to his clients and as mentor to other lawyers in the firm.
Muni’s passions include his beautiful wife, Carol, two children and five grandchildren, tennis, chess, bridge and checkers. He has a deep passion as well for the Yiddish language and Ashkenazi music. He has authored a book to teach the Yiddish language through song (“Sing and Learn Yiddish”). Muni continues to have a strong love for the practice of law.
