Bob was born and raised in Toronto and graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1977.
Upon his call to the Bar in 1979, Bob began practicing with Muni Basman and since 1981 has been a partner with the firm.
Bob practices in all areas of real estate, business law and information technology.
He acts for buyers, sellers and mortgage holders in home and commercial real estate transactions and has extensive experience acting for both landlords and tenants in many forms of commercial and residential leasing arrangements. In addition, Bob acts for lenders in various mortgage transactions, including those involving leasehold improvements.
Bob’s business law practice includes acting for people buying or selling a business, negotiating a business contract, borrowing money or refinancing their business. He also acts for employers and employees regarding employment contracts and employment termination.
He is active in the technology field, including negotiating and drafting computer related contracts such as software licensing, support agreements, software development agreements, source code arrangements, confidentiality agreements and distribution arrangements.
He has been an instructor in business law and negotiations at the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Bar Admission Course and has acted as counsel for non-profit arts and health services organizations.
Bob is married to a lawyer who also practices full-time. Bob keeps busy when not at the office with their four children, watching, playing or coaching hockey, watching figure skating and soccer, and is active in local hockey associations. In his remaining spare time, Bob runs and plays golf and tennis.
