Employment Law

At Basman Smith we offer comprehensive advice and service in all aspects of Employment Law for both employers and individual employees, including lawful terminations, wrongful or constructive dismissal, temporary layoffs, workplace health and safety and discrimination and immigration matters related to transfers under NAFTA.

We have experience and expertise drafting all types of employment contracts, executive compensation and other compensation agreements, including properly designed independent contractor agreements. Our lawyers provide advice and consultation to clients as to their rights and obligations under the Employment Standards Act and in dealing with the Employment Standards Tribunal.

We offer assistance and advice to clients on workplace harassment issues, including establishing proper policies and guidelines for employees and employers. When problems arise we advise on properly conducted confidential investigations and provide litigation support for business owners, executives and individual employees to navigate these often contentious matters. We also assist, both corporate and individual clients in employment-related human rights complaints before the Human Rights Tribunal.
